Yesterday Brandon completed the 3rd annual Ironbear Triathlon at his school. He swam 25 meters, biked 1 mile and ran 1/2 mile. Every kid receives a medal for completing the race. Yesterday's weather was perfect, although the pool was a little chilly. The event was held not a moment too soon - this morning a cold front blew in and it's now raining and 50 degrees.
I think this fundraiser is such a great idea for school kids. Buckalew Elementary used to hold a fall carnival with games and candy, but three years ago the PTO decided to "tri" something different. What an opportunity for kids to experience something new. And this event could make a serious impact on a kid and develop a passion that follows them into adulthood.
