School's Out!

Summer is officially here! I always love to compare the 1st day of school and last day of school pictures of the kids. They change SO much in one school year. Pictures are Lindsay 1st and last and Brandon 1st and last (with his teacher, Mr. Cohen).

First Day of 2nd Grade!

Today is the first day of school for Brandon! We officially have a 2nd grader. Brandon got Mr. Cohen for his teacher this year - the only male teacher at Buckalew!

Everyone was out taking pictures this morning, so I got a shot of Brandon and Thomas (going into 3rd grade).

Ready, Set....SUMMER!

Yesterday was the last day of 1st grade for Brandon. We will miss his teacher so much! What an awesome year! The kids ate lunch in the classroom and played board games and had "stinky feet". That is when Mrs. Bailess lets everyone take their shoes off in the classroom. What a treat - who knew barefeet were such a motivational factor??

Brandon had Beach Day on Tuesday. The kids played with bubbles, did the limbo, threw water balloons, dug in sand for treasure and ate ice cream sundaes. I don't remember school being this fun!!

Wacky Wednesday!

Brandon's class has a theme for every day of the last week of school. Today was "Wacky Wednesday", so Brandon wore his crazy shirt backwards, two different shoes, a green wig and a conductor's hat on sideways. Wacky, indeed! Brandon LIVES for stuff like this - he is our little social chairman!

Mother's Day Tea

Brandon's first grade class hosted a Mother's Day Tea on Tuesday. All of us moms filed into the classroom and the kids put on a show of poems, songs and quotes about mothers. It was very heartwarming and several of us had tears in our eyes. Brandon read the history of Mother's Day, which he researched himself and printed off the internet! Another mom told me she was impressed that my 6 year old is doing his thesis already.

One of the gifts I received at the tea was a hand-drawn picture of me by Brandon and some information about me he provided. According to Brandon, I have brown hair and blue eyes, the best thing I cook is brownies and, apparantly, I look the prettiest when I am "going to Theta bingo."
