For 24 hours Team Lemmons had a pet. Jeff found this turtle swimming in our pool and fished him out. We kept him in a fish tank with water, rocks and a couple of lettuce leaves overnight until we could properly release him into the wild on Monday morning. He was a beautiful turtle with interesting markings on his belly.
It was fun watching the kids check on him and talk to him (I say "him" like I know it was a boy or something!). We tried the puppy thing last year and that didn't work out, so maybe a more contained pet like a fish or hermit crab is in our future. We are babysitting a friend's mother's chihuahua in a couple of weeks, so we will see how the kids do. They are SUPER excited about Chico the Chihuahua coming to visit!
